 How to make Soft Idlis ?

    

   Idli is a common breakfast in southern india & is popular throughout india.

 Ingredients

  • Rice - 2 Cups
  • Urad Dal - 1 Cup
  • Cooked Rice - 2 tbsp
  • Salt - 1 tbsp

 Preparation

  • Wash & soak the rice & urad dal separately for about 6 hrs.
  • Grind the dal first & then the rice along with cooked rice to form thick, smooth batter.
  • Keep the batter in warm place for atleast 9 hrs or overnight.
  • Add salt into it & mix well.
  • Grease the idli holder & fill the batter.
  • Steam cook the idli until done.
  • Remove the idli & serve it with sambar or chutney.

         Notes:

  • Use the soaked water to grind the rice & urad dal.
  • Use of cooked rice makes the idli too soft & delicious.
